About this initiative
Council is committed to improving the municipality’s environmental sustainability and transport connectivity. Facilitating the transition to zero emissions vehicles, including convenient access to charging infrastructure, plays a significant role in meeting this commitment.
Council recognises the increase in demand for EV charging infrastructure, the benefits associated with adoption of EVs such as lower vehicle emissions, lower air and noise pollution and is supportive of increasing Mildura Rural City’s EV charging network.
In February 2022, Council adopted the Mildura CBD Access & Mobility Strategy which identifies a number of potential locations for public EV charging infrastructure in the Mildura CBD.
In July 2022, Council adopted the Mildura RV, Caravan and Camping Strategy which includes an action to 'undertake an audit of existing regional EV infrastructure to determine the best location/fit for potential new infrastructure'.
In April 2023, Council adopted the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Policy – CP053 and Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure on Council Land Guidelines.
The Policy and Guidelines aim to position Mildura Rural City as one of the most EV friendly communities in Australia, along with the aim to become RV friendly, further driving tourism and smart city opportunities in the region.
Council will continue to work with EV charging infrastructure providers to explore opportunities and new technologies to grow EV charging infrastructure in the municipality.

Questions and Answers
Your suggestions will help us compile a list of locations that can be further analysed for suitability and technical compliance for installation. Not all locations suggested may be suitable due to a range of factors. These will include technical constraints such as the available capacity of the electricity network to charge vehicles, and also consideration of parking restrictions and availability.
Installation of chargers at suitable locations will be considered by private companies in consultation with Council (and other agencies where required).
Any new charging stations determined through this process would be installed and maintained by third parties. There would not be any additional costs to ratepayers should new sites be identified, approved and installed.
Council currently manages the electric vehicle charging station at the Ouyen Community Park. There are also a number of privately owned and operated electric vehicle charging stations across the municipality such as those located in the Orange Avenue and Pine Avenue public car parks in Mildura and at the Murrayville Pioneer Park.
