Road Management Plan

Council is required to have a Road Management Plan under the Road Management Act 2004. It sets out the maintenance schedule for our road network. This includes the system Council uses to inspect, maintain and repair its public roads based on policy, operational objectives and available resources.

Our roadways are a vital part of our daily life, but not all roads require the same level of service to meet community needs.

Through careful analysis of maintenance costs and safety considerations, we’ve proposed changes to our Road Register as part of this review, including:

  • A change of classification which will alter inspection and maintenance schedules
  • The removal of some roads from the Road Register which have been deemed to be no longer reasonably required for public use. Once removed from the register, Council will discontinue management and maintenance of these roads
  • The land occupied by roads proposed for removal from the register will remain as they are, and are not being proposed for sale to adjoining landholders at this time.

By assessing service levels, Council can focus our maintenance efforts on roads that matter most while ensuring others remain safe and functional for their intended purposes.

You can view the Draft Road Management Plan in full, and provide feedback in the survey below.

A copy of the proposed changes to the Road Register is also available.

Feedback closes on Friday 28 February.
