Jaycee Park Adventure Playspace

Mildura Rural City Council is calling on your feedback to enhance, and help finalise, the design of the new Jaycee Park Adventure Playspace!

Originally set to be located at Nowingi Place, the 2022 Murray River Flood forced Council to relocate the proposed playspace to Jaycee Park – a prominent and popular feature of our iconic riverfront.

The project aims to deliver a regional level playspace that offers varied play and recreational opportunities for a broad range of ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds.

The playspace aims to capture the historical, natural and culture significance of the playspace’s new home at Jaycee Park, while ensuring it offers everything locals value.

The final design will be informed by previous work with the community when designing the original playspace for Nowingi Place, while ensuring the concept meets objectives of the Riverfront and Jaycee Park masterplans.

Council has identified budget to go towards this project, with external funds required to deliver the project in full.

Once consultation is complete, and a full Concept and Costings Plan endorsed, Council will then work to secure the funding required to deliver the Playspace to its full potential. The project may need to be delivered in stages depending on the outcome of external funding.

Help inform the final design for the Jaycee Park Adventure Playspace by completing the survey below before 16 January 2026.

Children's Voice

Council is seeking children’s imaginative design ideas for the future playspace through a design competition. Download the children’s voice activity sheet and once completed, you can upload to the children's voices page or you can email directly to recreation@mildura.vic.gov.au

Every child that returns a survey will go into a draw to win a prize pack that includes a family swimming voucher to Waves, a Cinema and Mildura Sports Precinct pass. The prize draw will occur after the 16 January 2026. Don't forget to add your contact details on your form so we can contact the winners.

FAQ's

The original playspace at Nowingi Place was endorsed and funded by Council prior to the 2022 Murray River flood event. Following this event, Council endorsed a decision to relocate the Adventure Playspace to Jaycee Park due to changes in insurance limitations and potential flood risks.

The new location offers a great opportunity to create a regional playspace that will cater to all ages and abilities, create a major tourism drawcard and ensure it serves generations to come.

Ultimately, we’re aiming to double the play value, and incorporate additional facilities, into the final design. Community input is vital to ensure the final design meets expectations, while also providing Council with a clear direction to secure external funding to deliver the project to its full potential.

Existing toilets were earmarked for removal as part of the Riverfront Masterplan Further Design Report 2021. A large Changing Places Public Toilet has been installed as part of Powerhouse Place project completed in 2024. A new toilet facility has been identified closer to the playspace, with residents able to provide feedback on future toilets at the site as part of this consultation round.

The Riverfront Masterplan Further Design Report 2021 recommends relocating the existing Locomotive K175 train off site. This would increase the usability of the open grass area for events and recreational opportunities. However this will be subject to feedback received during this latest consultations round and required funding.
