The Consultation Process

Mildura Rural City Council facilitated a community consultation from July to November of 2024. The first phase of the consultation sought feedback from key stakeholders, the second phase provided a number of opportunities for the broader community to inform the development of the new Mansell Reserve Masterplan, over 150 members of the community provided feedback, either in person, or through the online survey, this number includes the voice of 50 local children.

The previous masterplan was undertaken in 2004. Responding to the recent change in demand for the dedicated netball courts; council decided to revisit the masterplan. This is a timely opportunity for the broader community and stakeholders to review the new designs and provide feedback on the proposed community use of this valuable open space.

The Evolution of Mansell Reserve

Mansell Reserve was developed in 1955 to support the growth of Woman Sports and Recreation, in particular the codes of netball, softball and hockey. That growth continued and hockey and softball relocated to Aero Ovals in the 1990's. Mildura Netball Association continued to use the reserve until 2021 when they relocated to Mildura Sporting Precinct.
